To his Excellency Thomas E Bramlett Govenor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky

Your petitioners John. S. Tucker would Respectfully state that at the last November term of the Crittenden circuit ^court^ The Grand Jury Impanneled for said County Returned into the circuit court an Indictment charging them as one of the officers of the election held in the Union precinct in sd county on the [ ] day of August 1865 with the offence of preventing men Legally entitled to vote from casting their votes a copy of the Indictment is here with filed, Your petitioners admits that they did act as Sheriff ^and Judge^ at Said election but they deny in the most emphatic manner that they in any way interfeared with the Right of any citizen to vote ^who was a Legal voter^ or that they made any threats, or did any act calculated in any way to intimidate any citizen while at the election in Said precinct on the day aforsaid or in any way to interfere with the citizens while at
polls to prevent them from casting their votes for whoever they pleased

Wherefore they ask the intervention of Executive clemency on their behalf knowing that they prosecution is malicious and only intended to annoy, and put them to expence cost and trouble
