General,

The General Commanding directs me to say that Privates Ervin Ray, Austin. P. Smith, and William Wilcox. 35" Ky. Inft. Vols, who are now confined in the Hopkins Co. jail, upon the charge of Murdering James. L. Clark. are entitled to trial by Gen'l Court. Martial or Military Commission- He therefore directs me to make a requisition on the Govenor, through your office, for these men, that they may be tried under the 30" section of the Act of Congress, approved March 3" 1863.
