The department at Washington for Paying Bounties & arrears of Pay Requires Previous to allowing Sundry Claims from Floyd County Ky that your cirtificate shall be filed in that office — showing first who is Clerk of Floyd County & Circuit Court in November last 2^d who ~~are~~ ware Justices of the Peace at that time giving their names in your cirtificate

This is required from the fact that John G.. Johns the clerk certifies these claims, and states in his cirtificate that the seal of his office was distroyed by armed Soldiers; you will confer a lasting favour by sending the cirtificate aluded to at once as it will enable the widows & heirs of the departed [braves] to get the Government bounty due them an early compliance with the above request will oblige your friend
