To his Excellency Beriah Magoffin Govenor of the State of Ky

Your Petitioner A. P. Henson states that on the day of 1860 he entered into a recognizance in the Knox circuit court in the sum of One hundred dollars for the appearance of a certain Mr. V Hall in the Knox circuit court as its Sept Term 1860. the said Hall was indicted for carrying concealed a Pistol — He says that the said Hall failed to appear the Sept Term of the Knox circuit court and consequently the bond was forfeited and a summons was ordered against your Petitioner — He says that the said Mr. V. Hall has gone to parts unknown to your Petitioner — He says that when he entered into the obligation for the appearance of the said Hall in the Knox circuit court, he was a blacksmith and working for your Petitioner and he had no idea that he would try to get away; He says that
in this he was disappointed — He says that Judgment has gone against the said Hall — and consequntly he has no remedy except the timely intervention of your Excellency — He says that at the approaching term of the Knox circuit court a Judgment will be rendered against your Petitioner for the $100 —

He says that he has just [...] or nice and common life for himself & wife and that he is very poor having nothing but what is excempt from [...], (but he does not claim such exception) and if this Judgment shall be ~~com~~ called off of him, it will for a long time be very oppressive of upon him — and if the Executive clemency will interpose and save him from paying the one hundred dollars it will be a Rainbow of promise to him & his young rising hopes
