I send you the petition of numerous citizens of Bath, together with the letter of John Self, asking you to remit the fine of John Self for selling spiritous liquors to a minor prior to the March Term of the Bath Circuit Court of 1861,, Self is a hardworking boy about 21 years of age and if the Execution is issued against him. it will take all of his property to pay it,, And I wish you would remit the fine or if you cant do that stay its collection for twelve months in order to give him a chance to pay it. Send to me at once at this place, he informs me that the sherriff has the Execution and pressing him for the money,,

P. S. Garrett Davis has played hell in Congress Just as I expected, and told you he would do at the [locks] the day he was elected, I am going to offer a resolution instructing him to resign as soon as the Legislature meets,, I dont believe that there is 100 men in the State who would oppose it,,
