To his Excellency Beriah Magoffin Governor of Kentucky

Your Petitioners Peter Zink Conrad Kolb John Lenty the firm of Walter & Gross Harman Woltring would respectfully represent to your Excellency that they were indicted and fined at the December term of the City Court of Louisville for Selling Licquor without having License to Sell they were fined twenty dollars Each at Said term of Said Court upon Said intitement

They would respectfully State that their license for Eighteen hundred and Sixty one had Expired and that they were unable to procure the money to renew the Said License in the proper time oweing to the pressure in business causes by the unfortunate condition of the Country they after words succeeded in procuring the License of afor said which were datid back to the time they Should have Issued neither the city or State have theerby lost any thing. They would further State that they are poor and unable to pay Said fines at this time without great in convinen a portion of the petitioners have paid the Costs in Said inditments and the others are willing to pay their costs. They would respectfully pray your Excellency to remit their fines and Petitioners will Ever Pray

The petition states correctly the fines & some of the parties had paid a portion of their license money with the City Treasury. The city has lost nothing. The Petitioners have been punctual in paying their license heretofore & I ask your Excellency to remit.
