This day James Rowland Ragland made oath before me a Justice of the peace for said County that on or about the twentieth day of May 1862 he was robbed in the City of Louisville Jefferson County Kentucky of about the Sum of Six Hundred dollars Consisting of Kentucky Bank notes and United States Treasury notes in all of the Value of Six Hundred dollars also at the same time and place he was robbed of Sundry promisory notes given to affiant for the payment of Money by responsible persons to the amount of Two Thousand Dollars and more and that he believes and Charges that Robert Ward feloniously maliciously Committed Said Robbery and took and stole and Carried away from the person of affiant at that time and place the aforesaid Sum of Six Hundred Dollars in money and the Said promisory notes for two Thousand Dollars and more and affiant is informed and believes that Said Robert Ward is Now a fugitive from the Justice of the State of Kentucky and is in and residing and sojourning in the State of Iowa Clinton or some other County in Said State of Iowa
