I am directed by the General Commanding, to say, in reply to your letter of Oct. 3^d, that he has no control over paroled prisoners; they come under charge of the Commissary Gen^l of prisoners, at Detroit, Mich.

Camp Chase is the appointed rendezvous, for all paroled prisoners, belonging to regiments from Kentucky, (see Gen^l Order, War Dept. N^o 72.1862) and the establishment of such a camp as you propose, near Louisville, is not in his power.
