To his Excellency Jas F Robinson Gov of the State of Ky The undersigned petitioners would respectfully represent to your Excellency that on the 31^st of Jan last they were tried before H W Farris a Justice of the Peace for Said County for an assault upon the person of Solomon Sailer and fined each by the Jury $15.00 they further State that the assault was committed but under the following circumstances one of Your petitioners Thos Buford is the Brother of Mrs Fannie Donely who resides Six miles from Your petitioners they further State that the Said Solomon Sailer went to the House of Mrs F Donely when She was entirely unprotected and gave her Such abuse as decency would forbid [ ] her Brother Thos Buford at the Request of his Sister viseted her a few days after and finding the Said Sailer on the premices called upon him to answer for the treatment toward his Sister he Sailer gave him an unsatisfactory answer which caused Buford to Strike him the other petitioner Meyers then interfered to prevent Sailer from injuring Buford they State that the Said Sailer was not injured but little if any the Court would not permit Your petitioners to force the insult to Mrs Donely consequently they were fined the Sum above = Stated they further State that without the interference of Executive Clemency they will be compelled to pay the Said fine when they believe it unjust therefore they pray that Said fines be Remitted and they will ever pray &C

Lincoln County State of Ky personally appeared me the undersigned Justice of the peace who State upon oath that the facts as Stated in the petition aforesaid are true to the best of there knowledge

We the undersigned Citizens and Juryman being acquainted with the petitioners in the case would respectfully represent that under all the circumstances being acquainted with the parties and all the circumstances in the case would recomend the remission of these fines for Executive Clemency and pray that they may be remitted
