I herewith ^submit^ to your Excellency the letter of John W Duke asking to be released from the payment of a Judgement rendered against him by the Ohio Circuit Court as surity for the appearance of one James. L. Chiltan who was recognized on gave bond to appear before that Court to answer any indictment that might be found against
him in consequence of an affray with one Gabriel Netter. I personally know the facts as stated in Mr Dukes letter to be true & respectfully Petition your Excellency to remit the fine or Judgement against the sureties
