To his excellency the Governor of Kentucky

It having been made to appear by the oath of B. M. Burdett and otherwise that James H. Smith on the [ ] of Dec. 1862 in Garrard County Ky did kill and murder Joshua Burdett and that said Smith has escaped and is now at large; I therefore as county judge of said county do hereby certify that this is a case from the evidence above mentioned in which a reward to the extent of the law should be issued for the apprehension of said Smith.
