I herewith enclose to you an attested copy of an Indictment found by the grand Jury and reported to the Kenton Circuit Court at Covington at the June Term 1862. against Simeon Sheppard, a negro for feloniously coming into this state. He has since absconded and is now a fugitive from Justice in the County of Hamilton and State of Ohio. I request your Excellency to issue a Requisition to the Governor of Ohio, demanding the return of the fugitive and would respectfully suggest the name of Clinton Butts who is Marshal of this city, as a suitable person to be appointed agent of the Commonwealth to receive the fugitive from the authorities in Ohio, and return him to this state.
