Sir — We have the honor to recommend to you George Ames for Commission as 1^st Lieut" in Battallion 1^st Ky Cav Recruits, we make this Recommendation for the good of the service, based upon one enclosed by ~~[...]~~Captain Kinneythe mustering officer at this place. over Two hundred & rfifty Recruits have been held, the undersigned are the Three Captain retained Six Lieut have been retained also, but Capt Kinney has Consented to muster out one of them, who is desirous of leaving the service, and recommend "GeorgeAmes" who is eminently qualified to act as Quarter Master for the Battalion or in any other position: we Resptly ask your Consideration, and if possible have him Commissioned,
