To His Excellency the Govner of Kentucky
Sir

Aggreeable to instructions form the adjt Genl of Kentucky Dated Nov 23" 1863 to Send Muster Rolls of Simmonds Indp Vol Battery U S, A, that the Officers might be Commissioned", — I have the honor to State that the Rolls were forwarded about the first of January 1864. Since which time we have not heard from them, or the Adj^t Gen^l

As the Officers are very anxious to See the Commissions, if Coming from Kentucky, I would respectfully urge an acknowledgment of the Rolls, and the Command, or these will be an effort made to transfer the Command to Ohio, the Govnor is willing to fill up its ranks, Commission its officers, and acknowlege the Battery as one of its Veteran Batteries

Says that in accordance with instructions from the Adj Gen^l, he forwarded the Muster Roll of Simmond's Battery about the 1^s Jany 1864 since which time he has not heard of the roll, nor from the Adj Gen^l States the officers are anxious to see their commissions, and urges an acknowledgement of the roll and command, or there will be an effort made to have the Battery transfered to Ohio. as a veteran Battery.
