SPECIAL ORDERS,
NO. 74.

Maj Chas W. Quiggins is hereby appointed Special Mustering Officer for the State, and he will proceed to Irvine -- Estill County Ky, to organize and muster in for 12 months the "Kentucky River Battalion," of the 1: Reg^tCapitol Guards. He will take with him all necessary supplies to arm and equip said battalion with a sufficient guard for their protection. He will report to Brigr Genl S. G. Suddarth for instructing as to the best mode of subsisting the battalion. He will remain with said battalion until it is organized and a Major appointed to the command, and report weekly to these and his Regimental Head Quarters. Before leaving he will report in person at these Head Quarters for verbal instructions and the necessary blanks.
