Father of Elizabeth Patterson Blakey, James Reuben Blakey, Sallie George Blakey McCarley, William Churchill Blakey, Pamelia Margaret Blakey Duncan, and Reuben Thomas Blakey. Owned thirty-three enslaved persons in 1850. Owned twenty-one enslaved persons in 1860. Member of the Republican Party and Union Party. Member of the Bowling Green Lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Ran as the Emancipation Party vice presidential candidate with Cassius Marcellus Clay in 1848. Senatorial delegate for the Republican Party of Kentucky in 1858. Member of the Union Executive Committee of Kentucky in 1865. Resident of Bowling Green, Kentucky in 1865. Appointed by President Andrew Johnson as one of three Commissioners to make awards to loyal slaveowners whose slaves enlisted in the Union Army.
