Father of Edward Helm Haycraft, Sarah Maria Haycraft, John Samuel Haycraft, Louisa Ann Haycraft, Margaret John Haycraft, and Eliza A. Haycraft. Worked in the county and circuit clerk's office under Major Ben Helm from 1809 to 1816. Clerk of the Hardin County Court and Hardin Circuit Court from 1816 to 1851. Member of the Baptist Church and became a deacon in 1835. Trustee of Georgetown College. Attorney in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, from 1851 to 1855. Clerk of the Hardin County Court and Hardin Circuit Court from 1855 to 1857. Attorney in 1857. Member of the Senate of the Commonwealth of Kentucky from 1858 to 1862. Owned seven enslaved persons in Hardin County in 1860. Clerk of the Hardin County Court and Hardin Circuit Court from 1862 to 1868.
