Kentucky Confederate guerilla. Kentucky native. Son of Drucilla Menefee. Served in the Mexican-American War. Resident of Hickory County, Missouri, in 1850. Law student in Jefferson County, Kentucky, in 1860. Referred to as colonel by the provisional government of the State of Kentucky at the convention held at Russellville, Kentucky in November 1861. Adviser to the provisional government on the pro-Confederate sentiment in eastern Kentucky at the convention held at Russellville in November 1861. Scout for General Humphrey Marshall (C.S.A.) in 1862. Leader of a Confederate guerrilla unit in eastern Kentucky in 1862. Arrested by Confederate authorities on murder charges in Wise County, Virginia, in April 1863.
