Floyd County, Indiana, resident and soldier. Kentucky native. Son of David Rasure and Clarinda Tackett Rasure (Julia Dean). Resident of Floyd County, Indiana, in 1850. Resident of Morgan County, Indiana, in 1861. Served in 7th Indiana Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a private from April 28, 1861 to August 2, 1861. Served in 2nd Indiana Battery Light Artillery (U.S.A.) as a private and corporal from August 14, 1861 until discharged by Special Order No. 82. Served in 2nd Missouri Light Artillery (U.S.A.) as a second lieutenant from March 31, 1864, to September 12, 1864. Committed to Gratiot Street Military Prison in St. Louis, Missouri, on August 27, 1864. Dishonorably dismissed by Special Order No. 246 for counterfeiting.
