Rogers Croxton in Bourbon County, Kentucky, on April 10, 1860. Father of Harry Croxton. Resident of Bourbon County in 1850. Household owned nine enslaved persons in 1850. Graduated from Yale College in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1857. Attorney in Bourbon County, Kentucky, in 1860. Served in the 4th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry (U.S.A) as a lieutenant colonel and colonel from October 9, 1861 to July 30, 1864. Promoted to Brigadier General of Volunteers, July 30, 1864. Brevetted to Major General of Volunteers. Resigned December 26, 1865.
