Covington, Kentucky, merchant and soldier. New York native. Married to Sarah Ann Birdsall Lawson in Hamilton County, Ohio, on December 18, 1843. Father of Anna Lawson, Thomas Lawson, Charles Lawson, Joseph Edward Lawson, Sarah Lawson, Mary Ella Lawson, and Carrie Lawson. Merchant in Covington, Kentucky, in 1860. Employed Caroline Clay as a servant in Kenton County in 1860. Served in the 11th Kentucky Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a second lieutenant and captain from August 18, 1862 to July 17, 1865.
