Father of Nancy Terrill and Lewis R. Terrill. Attended school in Boone County, Kentucky, in 1850. Attended the University of Virginia School of Law in Albemarle County, Virginia, in 1855. Attorney in Dearborn County, Indiana, in 1860. Served in the 11th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a first lieutenant from September 22, 1862, to May 15, 1863. Captured at the Battle of Hartsville in Sumner County, Tennessee, on December 7, 1862. Paroled on December 10, 1862.
