GENERAL ORDERS,
No. 1.

I. — First Lieutenant W. C. PAINE, Corps of Engineers, is announced as Chief of his Corps on the Staff of the General Commanding, from December 29th, 1861 — the date on which he reported for duty.

II. — Captain E. GAY, U. S. Army, is announced as Inspector of Cavalry on the Staff of the General Commanding.

III. — Regimental medical officers being part of the "Field and Staff," their baggage will be transported in the two wagons authorized for the Field and Staff in General Order No. 8, of Dec. 3d, from these Head-Quarters.
