Petersburg Boone County Kentucky April 30^th 1862
To His Exelancy Hon Beriah M^cGoffin,
Dear Sir

on arriving at home, after my visit to frankfort I wrote out a petition for the Jurors in the Sebree Case to Signe, I then went to work to procure their names (which I found to be a most difficult Task, as they was Situated in the Extream parts of the County) I have (you will Observe) procured Seven of them, they Being the onley ones which I Could See During the term of our Court (Circuit). I have heard from two more of the Jurors, who Say that they will have no hesitancy in Signing the petition for Sebrees Releas. I will procure their names as Soon as possible and forward them to you in haste, as to the two Remaining ones I have not Seen, But Suppose they will Sign the petition on Sight. You will Observe on the petition the Names of Elijah Nutall the Judge who tried the Case of Sebree, whoes name aught to Be Eaqual to the four Remaining Jurors. I have this Day wrote to pat -- Major (at frankfort) to Sign the peition at your office, he will Sign it without a doubt if he gits my letter in time to attend to it this week, But he has to be in Owen on monday next and it may be he will not git it in time. there is an Other name attached to the petition, who is not one of the Jurors, he was our States Rights Candidate Last August for the Legislature, But unfortunately he was Beat on the Quesetion of Nutrallity onley by 47 votes there Being Some 1600 votes Cast in the County, I Supposed his name would have a great Bearing in this Case as to go to Show that it was verry near a unanimos [thin] in favor of Sebree,s Releas. If I Could have Seen the four Remaining Jurors I Could have got them on the petition without a doubt, But I thought that it was plently Strong without them, and it would have been attended with Some more Cost for travling Expences &co, co. I Enclose five Dollars, you will Please have the Same handed to Sebree for him to pay his Expences home. I would like if you would take it on your Self to give Sebree a Repremand on his
Leaving the prison, But of Course you must be the Judge as to that. you will perceive that I have marked oposit the Judge,s name on the Petition, and also oposit terrill,s. So that you will not be Deceived, and take them for Jurors, as the petition was drawn up Expressley for Jurors.

I Mail the Petition at the time of Mailing this Letter. and of Course it will arive about the Same time
