Dear Sir:

I have received a letter from madison County Ky requesting that I should make known to you the Wish of the Union men in that County as to the appointment of Charles Walker to the office of Col of Militia

I understand his appointment is desired by his friends and the Union Citizens of said County I know the family well and they are good Citizens.

I hope if compatible
with the interest of the State Servise you will cause him to be appointed
