I have to honor to state that you Commissioned me as first Lieut. in Company. D. 11th Ky Cav on the 11^th day of November 1864 since which time I have performed the duty of such up to the present time and am now informed by Lt. Col. Slator that I cannot be mustered in the Company owing to the Company having but six months to serve

I would also beg leave to state that the commission I now hold gives me a great deal of trouble to draw my pay as Sergt. and trust that you will not think hard of me to ask that you cancel my commission and I will wait untill some future time that promotion might offer in my own Company
