Council Chamber

Monday Novr. 25.^th 1861

The council met pursuant to adjournment
Hon^l. W. B. Machen President in the Chair

A communication was received from J. M. Johnson

Mr Crockett moved the following resolution Towit:
"Be it resolved that the following standing committees be appointed by the President to consist of three members each- a Committee on Banks, a Committee on Military, a Committee on Ways and means, a Committee on the Judiciary, a Committee on Finance and a Committee on Foreign Relations."
Which was unanimously adopted.

And then the Council adjourned. till 2 O'Clock P. M.

The Council met pursuant to adjournment- Hon^l. W. B. Machen President in the chair.

The President constituted the following standing committees in pursuance of the resolution adopted by the Council viz.

Mr Crockett moved the following resolution Towit:
Resolved That a Committee of three be appointed to draft a law fixing the salaries of Auditor, Treasurer, Secretary of State and Clerk of the Council"
Which was adopted.

The President under said resolution appointed the following Committee Towit. J. W. Crockett Chairman, P. B. Thompson and H. W Bruce.

On motion the Council proceeded to the election of a clerk which resulted in the election of A. Frank Brown of Bourbon Co.

On motion of J. W. Crockett the Council went into Executive Session.

A message from the Governer by [ ] was received and read as follows. Towit:

President of the Council of the Provisional Government of the State of Kentucky
Sir

I have the honor to nominate for the office of Auditor the Hon^l.Richard Hawes and hope the Council may concur in the appointment

On motion of Mr Crockett the nomination of Hon^l. R. Hawes for Auditor was unanimously Confirmed

The council then resumed its general session

On motion the Council adjourned to ten O'Clock A.M. tomorrow
