Clark County, Kentucky, soldier. Clark County, Kentucky, native. Served in the 20th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a corporal and sergeant from January 6, 1862, to December 31, 1863. Discharged to accept a commission. Served in Battery "E" Kentucky Light Artillery (U.S.A.) as a first lieutenant and captain from January 1, 1864, to June 12, 1865. Resigned on June 12, 1865.
