Sir,

I am directed by the General Commanding this Division, to say that you will not in any way interfere with Capt Johnson Comd'g, Home Guards. Grayson Co,, in his execution of orders received from these Head Quarters, He is authorized to exterminate "Guerilla Bands" in Grayson and adjoining Counties and to divide the property taken from them among his men pro-rata, also to take from disloyal men all arms and ammunition, and if needed by him to use them, if not to destroy them, If you have arrested Capt Johnson for the commission of any act authorized by Orders from these Head Quarters you will at once release him, And if you persist

in interfering with him you will be arrested and sent out of the county,

Sir I Return to this order from E. B. Harlan which Explains its self, under your order of a previous date., I have arrested Capt Johnson of the Independant Complyany of Grayson County, and now have him under arrest, which was also in complyance with Gen^lBurbridges Genleral Order N^o 3,

Incloses a copy of order received from Lt Harlan. A. A. A. Gen^l on Gen^l Ewing^s staff stating that Cap^t Johnson was acting under orders, and is authorized to destribute captured property among his men. Says he still holds Johnson which is in compliance with Gen^l Burbridges Gen^l Order N^o 3.
