To His Excellency Gov Bramlette
Sir.

I am informed by Lieut Col Jas T. Bramlette 12th Ky Cavalry, that a recommendation has been forwarded to your Excellency, urging Erastus M Gates for a position in some Ky Regiment —

I would respectfully represent to your Excellency that the said Gates tendered his resignation as 1^st Lieut of C^o. "G" 45^th Ky by my my direction — His resignation was accepted "for the good of the service" and he fraudulently procured an order from Gen Sturgiss under which he drew the pay that had been stopped against him —

I therefore more earnestly protest, to your Excellency, against the re-appointment of the said E. M. Gates to any position in any Kentucky Regiment —
