To his Excellency
Thomas E. Bramlette
Governor of Kentucky,
Sir,

Having obtained information of the resignation of A. J. Alexander, Lieut. Col. of the 11^th Ky. Cav. and the acceptance thereof, we most respectfully beg leave to petition your excellency to fill the vacancy thus created by the promotion of our 1^st Major, Milton Graham; and in event of his inability to accept the position, by reason of his ill health occassioned by a wound received during the East Tennessee Campaign, we earnestly request the appointment of Frederick Slater, Captain of Company "E" of said regiment to the Lieutenant Colonelcy; and if Major Graham's health permits and you acceed to our request in his appointment as aforesaid, then we petition for the promotion of said Captain Slater to a Majority thus made vacant.

We further petition that William P. Pierce Adjutant of said regiment be appointed to the Captaincy of Company "A", made vacant by the resignation of Captain John G. Pond, ^without regard to previous ^appointments^ that may have been made for said positions^ We heartily recommend the above appointments knowing the men to be high-toned Gentlemen, and in every particular eminently worthy of the positions for which we have placed them as aspirants
